How it Works
An expert panel consisting of the Bluetooth SIG
PR agency, and a representative from our Platinum sponsor company will choose finalists from each category. Judging will be based on uniqueness of idea, interoperability testing, ease of use, and correct use of Bluetooth trademarks.
Finalists will be announced the week of 7 December 2015 via a press release. Category and overall winners will be announced on 5 January at the Bluetooth SIG media event held in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Finalists and winners will be promoted on Bluetooth SIG websites,
press releases, social media channels, and other SIG communications. Product, Prototype and Application category winners will be invited to the Bluetooth SIG media event in Las Vegas to showcase their entry to the attending media. The Student category winner will receive a
cash prize of $5,000 USD. Additional sponsor donated prizes may also be offered. The overall winner of the Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards program will receive two roundtrip tickets to Bluetooth World 2016 and booth space in the exhibition hall (valued at $12,500 USD).

Meet the Judges
Alf Helge Omre, Nordic Semiconductor
Alf Helge Omre gained his Electrical Engineering degree from the Gothenburg Technical Institute, followed by BTech EEE at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. Omre started his career as a Sales Engineer at Teleste OY, then moved to a management position as a Northern District Manager in Dallas Semiconductor, followed by five years as Product Manager in Memec AS until 2002. Same year, Omre joined Nordic Semiconductor as a Product Manager for SoC/ASIC. In 2010, Omre was promoted to his current position of Business Development Manager for Bluetooth Smart. In his job, he drives the development and adoption of Nordic’s Bluetooth Smart products. Omre has contributed in several Bluetooth SIG WGs on profile definition work. In his spare time, Omre enjoys family weekends at the cabin with sailing and fishing.
